As World Book Day is only around the corner, we thought it was the perfect time to share our top 5 favourite books for little ones with you. Whether you’re nursing a newborn or have a toddler who’s really starting to understand the world around them, story books are a fantastic way to develop their imagination. It also helps to develop your child’s brain, ability to focus, concentration, social skills and communication skills. There really is no such thing as being too young to enjoy having books read to you!

Without further ado, here are 5 of our favourite teddy bear story books for your little ones. After all, Bjarni meaning Bear in Norwegian is at the core of our brand!

1.The Gruffalo

It might not be a bear, but it is the Gruffalo! The Gruffalo was originally published back in 1999! But has been involved in a lot more since then. We love this classic story book which is a rhyming story of a mouse and a monster. Little mouse goes for a walk in a dangerous forest. To scare off his enemies he invents tales of a fantastical creature called the Gruffalo. The moral of the story is, really, no matter how small or how big you are, you can get yourself out of any situation

There’s now a whole host of stories that shoot off from the original, just as fun and interactive as the first!

2. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

At Bjarni Baby, this is one of our own childhood favourites. This was originally published in 1967, and is still a class over 60 years later, it’s certainly aged well! The book is written and illustrated by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle, the book is designed to help toddlers associate colours and meanings to objects.

3. We’re Going On A Bear Hunt

We’re going on a bear hunt is such a fun and captivating read for young children. This 1989 classic children’s picture book is written by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury. It’s full of adventure and thrill, even as an adult it’s a fun and gripping read that allows you to escape reality for a short while!

4. The Big Hungry Bear

It’s no surprise that this story book is read and loved by millions around the world, and it has been that way for years! Little Mouse loves strawberries, but so does the big hungry bear. . . How will Little Mouse stop the bear from eating his freshly picked, red ripe strawberry? A fun, cute and engaging story for little ones.

5. Where’s My Teddy?

You’ll probably hear the words ‘again?’ every time you read this one to your little ones. Where’s my teddy? by Jez Alborough features Eddy who has lost his teddy, Freddy. So off the goes to the wood to find him. But the wood is dark and horrible and little Eddy is in for a gigantic surprise!
