We’re proud to say that our products are made from 100% organic cotton in its purest form. Yep, that’s right!
Natural coloured cotton means that there is no chemical dyeing or chemical processing used in the production of our products. This was an important aspect to us, meaning that the cotton is in it’s purest, softest and most natural form. The little black spots that you may spot on the clothing reflect the nature of the natural coloured cotton. Natural coloured cotton has the residue of cotton seed hull after combing and other processing techniques without any chemical dyeing.
Why We Chose Organic Cotton
We have a strong belief in sustainable development of baby clothing. All of our baby clothing is GOTS certified. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
As there is no chemical dyeing or chemical processing used in the production of clothing, it has a much lower environmental impact. As our material is soft and free from chemicals and dyes, there is less chance of your child developing skin conditions such as eczema, whilst being perfect for little ones who do have sensitive skin.

What Is GOTS?
There has been a lot of publicity surrounding the unsustainable production of cotton in the last few years. The global reach of cotton is wide, but current cotton production methods can be environmentally unsustainable. This is something we as a company did not want to add to, and wouldn’t. There are a lot of companies that claim they are organic or sustainable that also aren’t. Having GOTS accreditation means that we can shout from the rooftops that our baby clothing has been sustainably made!
We are proud to say that no chemical or dying processes are made in the process and all of our products are GOTS certified.
As detailed on the GOTS website, “The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.”
The meaning of GOTS is to outline world-wide known requirements that guarantee the organic status of textiles.
This includes the seeds used to harvest the cotton, the process of harvesting, the use of raw materials, ensuring the products are manufactured responsibly up to the labels. This is done to provide a trustworthy and reliable product guarantee for the customer.
How To Care For Our Products
Your baby clothing will be used, loved and washed over, and over again. Bjarni clothing is made to last after being sustainably produced. We recommend the following advice for washing;
- Wash at 30 degrees and with similar colours
- Dry flat
- Iron on low heat
- Do not dry clean
